Beech Nut Hut

It’s not often visitors can step inside the beautiful little Beech Nut hut in western Rockport. It sits 500 feet above sea level, on Beech Hill, and has a 360-degree view of Camden Hills and Penobscot Bay. Built in 1917 as a picnic hut for the Weatherend summer estate, it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Coastal Mountains Land Trust owns the site and has rehabilitated the hut’s foundation, walls, and sod roof. The trust is offering Open House days throughout the summer.
